About this Region
French wine is produced all throughout France and traces its history to the 6th century BC, with many of France's regions dating their wine-making history to Roman times.
Charles-Henri Genot, a Parisian pharmacist founded the estate in 1974 with his wife Marie. Starting their first plot in some old stables in Mercurey, Charles started exploring the terroir and purchasing parcels all along the Cote d’Or. To date the estate has grown to 22 hectares of organic vineyards from Chambolle-Musigny to Mercurey spanning 60 Kilometres. It produces 30 appellations, including 3 Grand Crus and 13 Premier Crus. The domain’s philosophy is “maximal work in the vineyard for minimal intervention in the cellar.” This produces grapes of substance and wines of character.
