The Ronceray Abbey ruled over the Chaume area as of the 11th century, and the nuns were compensated with the best portion of the year’s harvest, a quarter’s worth. The name of the cuvée is thus a playful reference to a long and rich history within the appellation. “Ronceray” is the given name for dry chenin produced in Chaume 1er cru and Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru.
